Dear Notre Dame Families,
Jesus said to them, “"I am the bread of life; whoever comes to me will never hunger, and whoever believes in me will never thirst.” John 6:35
Happy May! We continue to celebrate the Easter season as we also honor our patron saint, Mary the mother of Jesus. Every day during the month of May, classes will bring flowers up to place around our statue of Mary as we sing Queen of the May. This lovely tradition reminds us that Mary will always intercede on our behalf to Jesus, our Lord and Savior. As we sing and pray we are living out our SLEs of Reverence, Respect, and Responsibility.
It is hard to believe that we only have 4 weeks left of school! And a busy four weeks they are, so please check Beehively regularly for updates. The first two weeks of May students have the opportunity to “show what they know” as we administer the STAR Reading and Math assessments in grades TK-8 and the ACT/Aspire tests in grades 3-8. You will receive the STAR assessment data with your student’s year-end report card. ACT data will be available in late August. Our middle school students will also be taking a variety of subject finals. So please make sure your children are prepared academically by being well rested, eat a healthy breakfast, and have a “Yes, I can!“ attitude when they come to school each day on time. Please leave plenty of time for arriving to school for drop off with Leisure Town Rd. closed.
Our second graders are celebrating their First Holy Communion on May 6 and our community rejoices with them as they come to the altar to receive the Bread of Life. Our eighth graders are preparing to leave us and graduate on to high school! They are well prepared academically, socially, filled with faith, and we wish them well.
There are many year-end activities for our students and parents. Please join us as we install our new Parent Guild officers and thank our hard-working out-going Board on Thursday, May 11 at 6:30. Part of the celebration is an Ice Cream Social! Our talented students are preparing to entertain us at the annual Talent Show on May 23 at 6 pm. On May 24 we join together as a school community at the 8th grade baccalaureate Mass followed by the family brunch. Graduation is the following day at 5 pm. Field Day is on Tuesday, May 30 and is run by our 7th graders under the direction of Mr. Majors. Last day of school is on May 31 with a 12:15 pm dismissal.
